Gijima was involved in the implementation and integration of SOFTPRO’s SignBase (signature database) and SignCheck (automatic signature verification) solutions at three of the “big four” banks in South Africa for use in their cheque processing environments (including a cheque processing service provider).
SOFTPRO’s Fraud Prevention solutions have been integrated with various banking systems including FIS’s Cheque Processing solution (VisionIP), EMC’s Content Management Solution (Documentum) and other internal systems.
-- Track Record of SOFTPRO's E-Signing Solutions in Southern Africa --
In 2011 several banks in Southern Africa banks are now looking to expand their investment in the SOFTPRO technology through the addition of e-signatures in account opening and other contracting processes. One of these banks expects to complete their roll out 3000 signature pads in 2011. The concept of eSigning has been put to the South African market ever since SOFTPRO’s introduction of the e-Signing solutions in 2004 however it is only now that interest in the technology is growing noticeably higher. And this is not just in the financial services sector but also in other industries including retail, government and telecommunications.
The key drivers for organisations to move in this direction are twofold:
a) the need to remove vast amounts of paper from the process and thus improve the process and
b) the legal requirements for identity information to be gathered from clients.
As Southern African companies focus more on Green IT and paperless processing, Gijima is be there with the SOFTPRO products to deliver complete E-Signing-enabled solutions.
The E-Signing solutions have been integrated with output management tools and custom branch/teller solutions. As signatures are never a standalone solution, Gijima looks to further integrate the SOFTPRO modules into some of its other offerings including Workflow and Citizen Identity Management.
