SOFTPRO started the development of automatic signature verification along with IBM's lab in Schönaich (near Böblingen, Germany) and App Informatik (Switzerland, today's company name: Global Signature Net) in the late 80’s.

The first automatic solution went into production in 1994 in a large bank in Switzerland. In the following years this technology was adopted in several other countries around the world too including Singapore, Malaysia, Germany and the United States.

Patent rights for the automatic verification were acquired by SOFTPRO from IBM in 1998.

The partnership with IBM today is based on a broad number of joint customers in various countries throughout the world, primarily in the banking industry.

SOFTPRO supports IBM‘s industry standard products WebSphere und DB2 since many years.

Microsoft launched the Tablet PC platform in 2002 and SOFTPRO was part of this development from these early days. The Tablet PC specification defines the capturing of 133 different pressure levels which cater for trustwortrhy signature capturing.

Today Tablet PC Features are supported in Microsoft Operating System Windows 7 (except starter edition) and Microsoft Office products. For those that have tried a Tablet PC in its early days and decided not to use it they may quite surprised about the improvements in handwriting recognition and the input panel in the meantime. Personalized custom dictionaries help with the recognition of specialized vocabulary (like medical and technical terms).

The connection of the systems of SOFTPRO and Security Transfer offers the strongest defense against fraud with transfer forms and checks. Both systems are successfully in production at ABN Amro Bank in the Netherlands.

Fraud with manipulated transfer forms is based on tampering the formular (e.g. scratching), using correction fluid or instant correction tape. Security Transfer's solution is based on a specially coated paper, that works jointly with dedicated automatic detection equipment. It verifies the items at a maximum speed of 40 documents per second.

Security Transfer is technology provider, specialized in consulting banks about document fraud and providing sophisticated solutions. The global headquarter is in Lelystad, Netherlands, where the system is demonstrated on request.
